the name of this small coastal town comes from the tree called "Brijest" (Elm). It is an attractive tourist destination not only because of its lovely beaches, but also because of the Church of St. Margaret, which dates from the 15th century, and as the birthplace of the famous Franciscan Andrija Kačić Miošić and a painter Mladen Veža.
